Writersblock? Steal Somebody Else’s Eyes
// oktober 9th, 2009 // Successful Blogging
The nightmare of every blogger is writersblock. Can you imagine you don’t have a clue what to write about?
Especially for this occasion I introduced the category ‘Mumbo Jumbo’ to my blog – a place where I can free my head of various ramblings.
Another interesting approach to solving this problem is the ‘cross-dressing’-technique. As described in a recent post from James Chartrand @ Copyblogger.net.
Now, don’t take it literally, don’t start wiggling your hips when you walk down the street (if you’re a man) or start hollering at every woman walking by with your construction helmet on (if you’re a woman).
Like the title says: ‘Steal somebody else’s eyes’. The last resort when you ran out of material to write about, and you’re done examining and analyzing or simply put; milking everything you ever wrote.
Everything I’ve published till know, is read by my wife before it’s published. To check her reaction and to discuss her point of view to the subject. Which sometimes leads to very interesting conversations – for example: this is how my article on YouTube’s Advertising Policies existed.
It’s a definite must for bloggers – regardless the subject of your blog.
Place yourself in somebody else’s shoes. And you’ll find a whole lot of perspectives to the subject that you didn’t think of.
GOOD LUCK!

One thing I like to do is try to come up with crazy stories but tell them from a different point of view than my own. I haven’t done a whole lot of that with my blog yet because most of my content doesn’t allow/require it.
At some point I’ll definitely start using this technique though.
By the way, I love you discussed/tags/popular plugin. Would you mind telling me what it’s called? You can e-mail if that’s easier.

It’s not a plugin. It’s a source code that came with the theme. I’ll e-mail you the php-files.
Thnx for the comment!
Another set of eyes definitely couldn’t hurt. The good thing is that my readers give a good perspective that adds to the commentary. My wife, as great as she is as a writer, would have no clue what I’m blogging about!
That is a very good point. I don’t have a sounding board but I do write and read my post from a newbie perspective and then I re-read it as if I were a “guru”(I wish). And add and subtract accordingly.
